In Australia, there are 14 million monthly active Facebook accounts, 3.6 million LinkedIn profiles and 5 million Instagram accounts. With numbers like this, it’s easy to want to dive in and start telling people why they should list their property with you.

 

The majority of active social media users check their social media channels first thing in the morning but it’s certainly not to see what their local real estate agent has posted. They’re on social media to be entertained, keep up to date with family and friends, and things they care about. The challenge for real estate agents is how to – as a business – stand out among someone’s family and friends.

 

Aaron McMahon is the founder of Slim Digital, a marketing consultancy that concentrates on the industries of real estate, education, health, defence and sport. He believes that social media in real estate is simple – just be social.
